Rick has been involved in the hotel industry since 1999. Starting with the ownership of the Baymont Inn & Suites in Champaign and the construction of the Baymont Inn & Suites in Haubstadt, Indiana in 2000 (now a Quality Inn), he has grown Hotel Venture’s portfolio to over 6 hotel properties. He is responsible for the systems management approach in all of the hotels we manage.
He started his career as a McDonald’s crewperson in Oshkosh, Wisconsin in 1969 and worked his way up to General Manager of the Schofield, Wisconsin restaurant. He became an owner/operator in 1978 and continues to own nine Illinois restaurants today, with seven in Springfield, one in Litchfield, and one in Williamsville. Throughout his many years with McDonald’s, he has earned prestigious awards & accomplishments, including:
• 2005 – Outstanding QSC (Quality, Service, Cleanliness) Excellence Award
• 2005 – Williamsville, IL - Service Award
• 1995 – Clearlake Avenue, Springfield, IL - Outstanding Store Award
• 1986 & 1987 – Litchfield, IL - Outstanding Store Award
• 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987 – Carlinville, IL - Outstanding Store Award
• 1983 & 1985 – Jerseyville, IL - Outstanding Store Award
• 1984 Golden Arch Award, given every other year to the top six operators in the national McDonald’s system who are recognized for outstanding contribution to the McDonald’s ideals (155 operators have received this award domestically out of 2,800 owner/operators)
• 1981 Ronald Award for the St. Louis Region, presented to an operator in each region who has demonstrated the ability to best market their stores in their communities
• Developed 6 Outstanding Store Managers in our organization and one Ray Kroc Award winning Manager (given to the top 10% of all managers in the McDonald’s system)
